 Demarcation
This is where your new growth hair is a different texture from your relaxed hair. This is my hair in the photo. You can see where the new growth near the scalp is not as straight as the rest of my hair. I usually flat iron my hair from the roots to end when there is demarcation. You may still find that your hair is still not holding the way you've intended. There are two reasons; you need a professional who specializes in hot pressing and flat Ironing Afro textured hair. 2. You may be a person who perspires due to past workouts and past surgeries. This would be a concern since you do not want your hair to break between the growing processes. If you perspire a lot, you may need to get touch ups every 6-8 weeks. Some people can go longer.
HAIR TYPES
Some may find that their hair is too coarse between the two textures and is not happy at all with the idea. I have the 4a/4b hair but over time it softened to withstand the two textures enough to flat iron my entire hair. Those with a looser coil can withstand the two textures.

Assuming you have been wearing braid extensions for at least 2 months, if you find that you can't wait the 2 months after you've taken out your braid extensions, look below. Ordinarily you should wait 2 months before you re-apply braid extensions-especially if you have a relaxer. Deep condition your hair weekly for the equal amount of time you wear wearing extensions to insure that your hair is in good condition.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T FEEL THEY CAN WITHSTAND THE TWO TEXTURES AFTER THE BRAID EXTENSIONS ARE TAKEN OUT
1. You will not have to wait so long. Re-apply your braids after only 2 weeks. Shampoo and deep condition your hair by the info on this page. Click Here.

2. Flat iron once a week for 2 weeks. See the Flat Ironing Creme link to the right of this page.
3. Check for elasticity in your strands. Ask a professional if your hair is in good condition. If you do not have elasticity in your hair strands by now, continue to deep condition until there is elasticity. Note: A no lye relaxer usually does not give the hair strands elasticity
4. Re-apply braid extensions. Shampoo your hair the following day, apply Infusium 23 and braid spray. Put a plastic processing cap over your braids. Sit under a heating cap for 40-60 minute, then rinse your braids. Towel squeeze the excess water then apply these two products again and wear your braids. Continue to saturate your braid extensions with infusium 23 and braid spray daily. Your braids do not have to be drenched in these 2 products.

You do not have to saturate your braids everyday unless you prefer, but at least saturate them every other day. If you live in a very humid or dry climate, apply both Infusium 23 and Braid Spray daily. Your hair will be softer and stronger than usual when you take out your braid extensions. Still continue to test your strands and keep your hair in good condition when your hair is out of extensions. See the strand test on this page.
