AFRO AIR CARE- Trimming Your Afro
 |
For Your Natural Hair
Trim your ends. This is not the same as having a blunt hair cut. A trim is just a little off the ends. If you are growing out your natural Afro Hair, have a skilled professional clip your ends. |
Clipping/Trimming Your Ends
Trimming your ends is not too complicated to do. However, you should get your hair professionally trimmed.
Clipping Your Hair For Braid Extensions
Don't clip your ends if you will be using braid extensions to grow your hair. Your hair will show from the extensions if you do. Clip hair cut after you have reached your hair goal.
Find a stylist who has your best interest before allowing your hair to be cut or clipped.
Split Ends
The problem of split ends occurs when the cuticle is damaged and the fibers of the cortex are unraveled. Because of chemicals, neglect of your hair, processed foods, certain medications, and harsh treatments, you'll have to clip your ends.
Hair can be trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks. Sometimes depending on the person's hair condition. The hair may not need to be trimmed as often.
Tip
After you squeeze dry your hair with a towel, add your favorite hair oil to your hair while damp. This locks in moisture to your hair and ends.
Tip
Always use a hair strengthener after you shampoo, a heat guard product if using heat and a hair reconstructor if you have damaged your hair.

Tips For Treating Your Ends
Here is a Crown & Glory tip: dab or spray ice water on the ends of your hair then immediately hot curl the ends. This will seal the cuticle and make your ends moist. This will cut down on split ends if you are using heating tools daily or too often. Also use a heat guard product as often as you use heat on your hair.
Blow Dryers
Try a thermal protector if you use blow dryers, curling irons, or hot rollers. Thermal protectors normally use heat absorbing polymers that distribute the heat so your hair does not get heat damage, (a major cause of hair damage). Mist it on clean towel dried hair prior to the application of any styling tools. These products are also called heat guards. Use a UV protector (protection from sun damage) on your hair if you're in an out doors environment for long periods of time.
Tips
Have your stylist do all your chemical work if you are not skilled.
