Clipping your Ends
Trimming your ends is not hard. I do recommend that you get your hair professionally trimmed if you are not skilled in trimming your own hair. Trimming your own hair can be done also. Trimmed ends will allow your hair to look healthy and grow evenly.
If You Are Thinking Of Growing Your Hair Using Braid Extensions
Have a small amount clipped, not a blunt cut or else your hair will stick out of your extensions. When you've reached your hair goal, get a blunt cut of 2-3 inches off the ends for a healthy full look.
For Your Natural Hair
Trim your ends. This is not the same as having a blunt hair cut. A trim is just a little off the ends so you can braid your natural hair. After you've achieved your hair length, have a blunt cut if you desire. This could be 2-3 inches off the ends for a full healthy look.
IF YOU ARE GROWING OUT YOUR NATURAL, HAVE A SKILLED PROFESSIONAL CLIP YOUR ENDS SO YOUR HAIR WON'T BE UNEVEN
Split Ends
The problem of split ends occurs when the cuticle is damaged and the fibers of the cortex are unraveled. This occurs because of chemicals, neglect of your hair, harsh treatments. Keep your hair deep conditioned weekly. Afro Detangler works wonders on natural Afro textured hair. It stops breakage and deep conditions.
Hair can be trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks. Sometimes depending on the person's hair condition. The hair may not need to be trimmed as often. Have your hair trimmed when truly needed.
Tip
After you squeeze dry your hair with a towel, add a hair strengthener, then add your favorite light hair oils to your hair while damp. This locks in moisture.
Tip
Always use a hair strengthener even if your hair is not damaged or dry----or a hair reconstructor after you've shampooed your hair.
Ends
If you hot curl your hair too often
H ere is a Crown & Glory tip: dab or spray ice water on the ends, then immediately hot curl the ends. What this does is seal the cuticle by moisture. This will cut down on split ends if you are using heating tools daily or too often.
Blow Dryers
Try a thermal protector if you use blow dryers, curling irons, or hot rollers. Thermal protectors normally use heat absorbing polymers that distribute the heat, so your hair does not get heat damage, (a major cause of hair damage). Mist it on clean towel dried hair prior to the application of any styling tools.
Use a UV protector (protection from sun damage) on your hair if you're in an out doors environment for long periods of time.
Tips
Have your stylist do all your chemical work. |
